1872 Regulation Leather Baseball

Each baseball is handcrafted using materials and methods from when the sport gained interest in the U.S. during the 1850s. At the time, handmade baseballs were the norm and most pitchers would use and make their own. Particular care is taken to ensure the source materials are as close as possible to what would have been used in the time period.

These recreations fall as near as possible to the regulations required in 1872:

● between 9-9.25 inches in circumference

The core is made from a rubber center tightly wrapped in wool as it commonly was in 1876. That same year the first game was played in the National League of Baseball Clubs. As white leather was not often used until the early 1900s, classic top grain veg-tanned leather and white waxed linen thread combine for this vintage look.
